How to remove pet hair from an abaya.

Dark abayas can show cat and dog hair quickly. Work on a dry garment, use light pressure and always follow the care label—especially for silk, embellished or delicate fabric.

1. Hang the abaya in good light

Use a wide hanger and inspect the sleeves, lower hem and sides. Remove loose clumps by hand before they spread across the fabric.

2. Test a hidden area

Try the inside hem first. Stop if the tool pulls fibres, catches decoration or leaves a visible mark. For delicate or damaged fabric, use a professional cleaner.

3. Roll lightly in one direction

Use short, overlapping passes from the shoulder downward. Avoid rubbing back and forth, which can push hair deeper or stress the surface.

4. Check cuffs and seams

Support the fabric with one hand and use very light passes around cuffs, seams and folds. Do not roll over beads, embroidery, loose threads or fasteners.

5. Store it away from pet bedding

Keep the cleaned abaya in a breathable garment cover. Store the lint roller covered near the wardrobe for quick touch-ups before leaving home.
